Janet Zimmerly

Janet Sarah Hubler, 82, passed away on Monday, February 17, 2025 in Eureka, IL.

She was born on October 4, 1942, in Erie, Pennsylvania to Irene (Kohler) and George Zimmerly. She was preceded in death by her brother, Dr. James G. Zimmerly, and her eldest son, David Hubler. She is survived by her children, Dr. James (Aimee) Hubler of Washington, Illinois, and Kathy Odle of College Station; seven grandchildren, Aidan Odle (USMC), Claudia Odle of College Station, Texas, Ellie Hubler, Ava Hubler, Gannon Hubler, Zeagan Hubler, and Roegan Hubler all of Washington, Illinois.

A 1960 graduate of Academy High School, Jan earned a BA from Gannon University. She spent most of her career working at the Vendetti Law Office and Liberty Mortgage Company in Erie. She was a freelance writer and photographer for the Erie Daily Times. She was an active member of the Erie Runners Club where she enjoyed participating in multiple 5ks with her son David. She was a fitness instructor at the Glenwood YMCA and danced with Little's Dance Studio for over 30 years. She loved traveling with friends and engaging in spirited games of scrabble and bingo. She also took pride in tending to her plants and flower garden.

Jan was known for her great summer parties at the cottage on the beach in Ripley NY, where friends and family of all ages gathered. She was a life-long member of St. Peter's Cathedral church in Erie, Pa. She will be deeply missed, but her spirit will continue to guide and inspire her family and all who knew her.
