Fairlena Potter

Fairlena "Fay" (Potter) Meehl, age 86, of North East, passed away on Sunday September 27, 2026 at her residence.

She was born on June 28, 1940 in Breathitt County Jackson Kentucky to the late Robert and Lula (Richardson) Potter.

Fay graduated from Academy High School and worked at Welch Foods, Eckerd Drug Store, and the Circle K in North East for several years.

Reflecting her vibrant spirit, she found her greatest joy in raising her family and creating a home filled with love, laughter, and life.

An enthusiastic collector and nurturer, she spent her free time tending to her beautiful orchids and plants, collecting cherished dolls, and cooking delicious meals for those she loved. Her warmth and open heart extended into her professional life at Circle K, where her bright personality and welcoming smile allowed her to turn everyday encounters into lasting friendships. Her presence will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and the community she served so cheerfully.

She was preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Keemes Gary Potter, Mary Ruth Macie, Hershel Potter, Debbie Potter, Amy Regal, and Barbara Jo Haddix.

Fay is survived by her husband Donald A. Meehl whom she married May 7, 1961; children, Yvonne Annette Schnelzer, Yvette Marie Cunningham, Nelson Shelby Meehl, Donald Steven Meehl, and Jeffrey Allen Meehl; brother, Lawrence Potter; and several grandchildren.
