Shirley J. McClain, age 69, of Edinboro, died Sunday, August 12, 2012 at her home after an illness of several years.

Born in Pittsburgh on November 13, 1942, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Jean Scholtz Fallon. Shirley graduated from Academy High School in 1960 and was married to Lewis R. McClain the following year on September 23, 1961.

They lived in Erie for several years until establishing their home in Edinboro in 1972. In 1980, Shirley started her own business, Shirley McClain Century 21 Real Estate, in which she was the owner/broker. She later formed McClain Realtors with her husband and worked until her retirement in 1997. For many years, Shirley also taught real estate classes at Penn State Behrend.

Shirley loved living a full life and enjoyed many things such as her pet Yorkies, spending winters in The Villages, Fla. with her husband, playing golf, skiing, playing Bridge with the Edinboro Bridge Club, knitting, biking and watching hockey. As a skilled golfer, Shirley was proud to have been a golf champion at the Riverside Golf Course.

Preceding her in death were her parents, and a brother, Gary Fallon. Shirley is survived by her loving husband of 51 years, Lewis R. McClain; three children: Susan Anne Hill and her husband Kevin of Ripley, N.Y., Tracy Louise Woodrow and her husband Gregory of Kailua, Hawaii, and Lewis R. McClain II and his wife Reem of Erie; and four grandchildren: Grace Woodrow and Mitchell Woodrow, and Zoey McClain and Lewis R. McClain III. She is further survived by eight siblings: Nancy Everhart, Charles Fallon, James Fallon and wife Vicky, Joseph Fallon, Louis Fallon and wife Bonnie, Maureen Holsinger and husband David, Robert Fallon and Vincent Fallon; also, many nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at the Van Matre Family Funeral Home, 306 Erie Street, Edinboro, on Wednesday from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Funeral services will take place there Thursday morning at 11:00 a.m. officiated by Rev. Brian Kelly of McLane Church in Edinboro. Burial will follow at Draketown Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to The Association for Frontotemporal Degeneration at www.theaftd.org.
