Otley Sylvia Mount Worked at Gannon; was singer, actress Otley Sylvia Mount, 61, 1904 June St., died Saturday, Sept. 13, 2003, at her residence.
She was born in Erie, March 9, 1942 , daughter of the late Sylvester and Dottye Justice Mount.
She was a graduate of Academy High School, Class of 1960, and of the Erie Business School. She worked at Gannon University as a financial aid clerk for 15 years and had formerly worked for Prudential Insurance. She also was a singer and actress. She had performed professionally in the Erie Playhouse, in the Meadville area, and in other areas around the region. She had previously lived and performed professionally in New York City, where she appeared in the Afro-American Total Theater production of Sheba. She also performed with the New York City musical groups Smoke, Just Us, and the Dooif's of Erie.
She was a member of Word of Life Christian Center. She had been the church clerk at Shiloh Baptist Church for many years, was the director of Kay's Little Angels Choir and was a soloist in the senior choir.
Survivors include a son, Brendon Mount of Lititz; a brother, Jimmy Justice of New York City; a grandson, Alexander James Mount; and many cousins.
Friends may call at the Burton Funeral Home, 602 W. 10th St., today from 7 to 9 p.m., and at Shiloh Baptist Church, 901 E. Fifth St., Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A wake will be held there from 7 to 9 p.m. A service will be held there Saturday at 1 p.m., officiated by the Rev. Clifton McNair. Burial will be at Lakeside Cemetery
