Maxine Wassink

Maxine L. Warnshuis, of Elizabethtown, Ky passed away on Friday, October 26, 2018 after a two year battle with cancer. She was born in Erie, Pa., on June 2, 1942 to Byron and June Weidner Wassink.

Maxine was a member of Glendale United Methodist Church, the Stitchers Quilt Guild, the Sew Whats Quilting Group and the Glendale Homemakers. She served two terms as the Treasurer of the Hardin County Homemakers, served on the Hardin County District Extension Board and spent many hours painting quilt blocks for the Clothes Line of Quilts.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Howard Wassink, in 1987.

Maxine is survived by her husband, Roger, whom she married on July 30, 1960. She faithfully accompainied him where ever the Army sent them in the 25 years that they served. She is also survived by a son, Craig (Kim) Warnshuis of Hodgenville; a daughter, Sheri (Darren) Grimes of Buffalo; four grandchildren, Steven (Hannah) Warnshuis and Kaitlyn Warnshuis, all of Hodgenville and Darienne and Dylan Grimes of Buffalo. Also surviving are two great-grandchildren, Shelby and Silas Warnshuis of Hodgenville.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Brown Funeral Home with Rev. Don Sexton and Pastor Val Goins officiating. Burial will follow in the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Central in Radcliff immediately following the funeral service.

Visitation is from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday and continues after 12 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to a favorite charity or Gideons International in her name.
