Mary Jane Schick

Mary Jane (Schick) Capwill, age 79, of Erie, Pennsylvania passed away peacefully Friday, July 16, 2021, at St. Vincent Hospital. She was born February 21, 1942, in Erie, a daughter of the late Albert and Dorothy Steimer Schick.

Preceded in death by her brother, Edward Schick and his wife Barbara Schick; and her late partner, Jerry Gradler.

Mary Jane graduated from Academy High School. She loved music and always enjoyed singing and playing the organ. Many happy moments were shared singing while her sister Rosemarie played the accordion and a lot of laughter and love was shared listening to polka while having fun at family parties. Mary Jane was an active member of the Our Lady of Peace congregation and Church Choir. Mary Jane lived her life in the service of her Lord and took great pride in caring for others. She was well known throughout her residence for restoring garden ornaments that had been weather beaten to brighten the outdoors as well as making wreaths and ornaments to don hallways and resident's apartment doors.

Loving mother to her daughter, Christine Howe (Capwill) and her husband Harry; her daughter, Marjorie Capwill and her significant other Geoff Hanes; her son Richard Capwill and his wife Cheryl; ten grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Beloved sister to Rosemarie Roos and her husband Gerald; Bill Schick and his wife Josephine; and beloved aunt to many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to give special thanks to the staff of Edinboro Manor and St. Vincent Hospital for their tender care and support over these past few months.

Friends and family may call at Kloecker Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. 2502 Sassafras Street Erie, PA 16502 on Thursday from 12 pm until the time of the funeral service at 2 pm. A private burial will be held at Calvary Cemetery.
