Kent Perry Baur, 52, of Erie, died Tuesday, July 12, 1994, at Saint Vicent Health Center. He was born in Erie on April, 4, 1942, son Byron A. Baur and the late Gladys Perry Baur.
A graduate of Academy High School, Mr. Baur was a-star tennis player in high school and in college for Edinboro University. In high school, he won the district singles championship and was a co- winner of the Pennsylvania State Interscholastic Singles Tournament. For Edinboro, he and his friend and doubles partner, Arnold Bradshaw, won many tournaments. After graduating from Edinboro with a degree in education, Mr. Baur taught school in Johnstown and Philadelphia. He was the tennis pro at Willowgrove Racket Club in the Philadelphia suburb of Willowgrove. Upon returning to Erie, he was an independent contractor in the management of tennis courts and facilities. He was a member of the Erie Tennis and Country Club.
In addition to his father, survivors include a brother, B. Douglas Baur of Alexandria, Va.; a sister, Beverly Peyton Baur of Erie;. and two nieces.
Friends may call at Brugger Home for Funerals, W. 38th and Greengarden Blvd., on Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m. The funeral service will be held there Monday at noon, The Rev. Dr. Lewis M. Evans Jr. will officiate. Private burial will be at Erie Cemetery.
