Judith Spiteri

Judith R. "Judie" Szczerba, age 72, passed away Thursday, May 1, 2014, at her home in North Muskegon, Mich., with her family.

She was born September 12, 1941, in Erie, Pa., to Joseph and Shirley (Baker) Spiteri.

Judie graduated from the Academy High School in Erie, Pa., in 1960. She had been employed as a buyer for The Boston Store in Erie. After moving to Carmel, Ind., she was employed as food service manager for the Carmel-Clay School System, until her retirement in 1988. She was a devoted wife to her husband of 46 years, Daniel M. Szczerba, who preceded her in death in 2011. She enjoyed cooking, reading, crocheting, bargain shopping and spending time with her family.

She is survived by her children, Daniel M. (Claudia) Szczerba of Darmstadt, Germany, Diane (Wade) Anderson of Muskegon, Donna (Tony Clegg) Szczerba of Muncie, Ind., and Debra Zintel; four grandchildren, Jennifer Szczerba, Aaron Szczerba, Kelsey Anderson and Jason (April) Bryant; two great-grandchildren, Maya Szczerba and Eleanor Bryant; also, several siblings around the country.

In accordance with her wishes, there will be no service or visitation at this time. She, along with her husband, Daniel will be laid to rest in Fort Custer National Cemetery, Augusta, Mich., at a later date.
