Mr. John Willis Swift, 73, passed away February 19, 2016.

A graveside memorial service and inurnment will be held later in the spring at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery in Van Meter.

John was born March 13, 1942 in Cleveland, OH to Benjamin and Louise (Denison) Swift. He was one of ten children. He was an Airforce Veteran who served honorably from Shaw Air Force Base.

John was married to the former Gladys Williams in 1978. He worked as a corrections officer for the Federal Protective Service Division until his retirement.

John is survived by his wife, Gladys; his children, Melvin Davis III and Crystal Davis; 4 grand children and 6 great grandchildren; his siblings, Mary, Mattie, Benjamin, Louis and William along with numerous cousins, nieces nephews and friends.
