John A. Barton, a resident of The Villages, Florida, and formerly San Diego, California , and Key West, Florida, passed away June 20, 2017, after a courageous battle with Glioblastoma, a brain cancer.
John was born in Erie, Pennsylvania, October 10, 1942, the son of the late Dr. Aubrey and Viola Oiler Barton. He graduated from Academy High School in 1960, and Washington and Jefferson College, in 1964. He excelled in swimming at both the high school and college level. He was a member of Phi Delta Theta fraternity and served in the US Army in Korea. John was a successful business man, and was currently President and CEO of Med-Effect, Inc.
John is survived by a son, Aubrey John (AJ) Barton, his former wife Nancy Schaubecker Barton, his sister Phyllis Longnecker, and his dear friends Marilyn Kurak and Jim Plummer, who loved and cared for him.
In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his daughter Dana Barton.
