Mother of Daniel A. Strollo and his wife Kerry of Lexington, and David P. Strollo and his fiancé Katie McLeod of Billerica. Sister of Paul Barney and Betty Williams. Joan is also survived by 4 grandchildren, Bella, Jake, Thomas, and Brooke and by many nieces and nephews.
Joan worked as a book keeper and volunteer in many capacities. She formed her own business, JMS Associates in the late 1980s which she continued to run up until just a few years ago serving several clients in Lexington and the surrounding area. She also served as the treasurer, driver, and coordinator for FISH of Lexington, a non-profit organization that drives the elderly to doctors’ appointments. She also volunteered for many years at the Concord, MA Correctional Institution in their “Kids Corner” which was for children of inmates to visit parents at the prison. Joanie also was a great friend to many who appreciated her self-described “goofy” sense of humor, sharp wit, and heart of gold.
A funeral service will be held Wednesday July 16 at the Lutheran Church of the Savior, 426 Davis Rd. Bedford at 11am. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Visiting hours at the Douglass Funeral Home, 51 Worthen Rd. Lexington Tuesday from 4pm to 8pm. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to Caring Voice Coalition (www.CaringVoice.org) or to the charity of your choice. Private interment (Saint Boniface Church, Erie, PA).
