James M. Miller James Michael Miller, 64, a very strong man who battled cancer for 7 years died on March 2, 2007 in Florida.
He was a 1960 graduate of Academy High School and had been an outstanding football player. Jim continued his football career at Clarion University, and later received a master's degree from Edinboro University. He retired from the Erie School District and had moved to Florida.
Having been an English teacher and a man of many words, he enjoyed reading and crossword puzzles. He loved and participated in many sports, and this coming spring, he was to be inducted into Clarion's Football Hall of Fame. James also received recognition in the Erie Times News "100 Greatest Athletes of Erie County" edition. He also belonged to the Erie Maennerchor Duck Pin Bowling League and bowled with their Inter-club Duckpin team.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Cauley Miller and a brother Herbert Thomas Miller. James is survived by his wife Judi Bryan Miller; three daughters, Nicole Miller of Erie, Danelle Cauley of N.C. and Jaimie Caltabellatta of N.J.; five grandchildren, Zachary, Matthew, Jacob, Emily, and Jimmy. James is further survived by a brother Michael Miller of Md. along with many other family members and friends. He will be sadly missed.
The family will receive friends Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until 11 a.m. in Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church, 837 Bartlett Rd, Harborcreek. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated in the Church at 11 a.m.. Entombment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Make A Wish Foundation, 2022 W.38th St., Erie, PA 16508 or to the St. Jude's Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or simply raise a glass in memory of Jim Miller.
