Frank Huber

Frank A. Huber was born in Erie, PA on October 7, 1942 to Frank J. Huber and Jean Marie Parsons Huber Allue. He attended public schools in Erie, graduating from Academy High School where he was class president, quarterback on the football team, and pitcher on the baseball team. Frank graduated from Colgate University, the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine, and later (1990) the School of Theology at the University of the South at Sewanee. He practiced veterinary medicine for 20 years, and after seminary served as an Episcopal priest for 17 more years.

Frank and his wife, Lynn Wallerstein Huber, lived in Erie, PA, Sewanee TN, Bowling Green KY, and Pine Bluff, AR before moving in 2000 to the Denver Metro area in Colorado. They had loved Colorado and vacationed there for many years before Frank was called as Rector to St. Joseph Episcopal Church in Lakewood. He retired in 2007.

Having loved two careers, Frank considered himself to be a very fortunate man. In retirement he became a master gardener, with his own private home garden becoming his workplace, exercise place, and prayer place–his great joy and special love.

The Hubers were blessed to travel all 50 states and parts of Canada, mostly by truck and trailer, over the course of their marriage, rejoicing in the beauty of the natural places from sea to shining sea–among them the long grass prairie, the red rocks of southern Utah, the white sands of New Mexico, the mountains of Colorado, and the eastern Smoky Mountains.

Frank had a major stroke in 2016. Two years later the Hubers moved to Balfour Senior Living in downtown Denver–a place they loved, but which has no Skilled Care. This summer they were able to move to Clermont Park near DU, which does. Just 40 days later Frank had another major stroke, and spent his last months in that Skilled Care unit. While there, he acquired CoVid, and lived only a short time afterwards.

Frank leaves not only his dearly beloved wife of 52 years, but his sister, Barbara Jean Haupt (Port Orange, FL), his brother Timothy J. Allue (Kathy) in York, PA, a nephew, Tom Haupt (Sherri) and two great nieces in the Harrisburg, PA area.

Funeral services will be arranged following the CoVid pandemic so that the Hubers' widely scattered network of family and friends can come together.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Civil Liberties Union Foundation (aclu.org) or to Denver's Metro Caring (MetroCaring.org).
