Earl "Elmer" Lee Woodard, Sr., 77, of Erie, passed away Saturday, August 11, 2018, at St. Vincent Medical Center, surrounded by his wife and two sons.
Born March 11, 1941, in Shubuta, Mississippi, he was a son of the late Herman and Theola (Roberts) Woodard.
He graduated from Erie Academy High School in 1960. He retired from General Electric in 2002 as a Quality Control Inspector, after 37 years of service. After his retirement, he worked for St. Vincent Medical Center, in the maintenance department, for five years.
He was an active member of Shiloh Baptist Church, where he served on the Deacon Board, as an usher and as a member of the Male Chorus and Senior Choir.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Jimmie Woodard.
He is survived by his wife, Yvonne (Smith) Woodard; three children, Earl (Traci) Woodard, Jr., Middletown, Del, Kevin Woodard, Erie and Steffanie (Michael) Jasper, Pittsburgh; grandchildren, Trejean and Maenne Woodard, Keyion and Jeremiah Woodard and Lauren, Natalie and Matthew Jasper; sisters, Myrtis Jones, Detroit, Mich. and Betty Dickens, Erie; brothers, Herman (Clara) Woodard, Jr., Erie, Charles Woodard, Allentown, and Eddie (Devra) Woodard, Cleveland, Ohio; brother-in-law, William (Sherry) Maniece, Bowie, Md.; an uncle, with whom he was very close, Cecil Woodard, Erie; and many nephews, nieces, cousins and other extended family.
Friends may call from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 12:00 noon, on Saturday, August 18, 2018 at Shiloh Baptist Church, 901 E. 5th St., Erie. Burial will follow in Wintergreen Gorge Cemetery.
