Dottie Jean Clay Knight Best Sister One Could Have Dottie Jean Clay Knight, 66, 2312 Camphausen, passed away Friday, August 1, 2008, at Hamot Medical Center.
She was born in Jasper, Ala., February 13, 1942, daughter of the late Flloyd West and Mary Jane Clay Sparks. She was a resident of Erie for 64 years.
She was retired as a Social Worker from Hamot Medical Center after thirty seven years of service and was a member of Morning Star Baptist Church. Dottie was an avid reader and enjoyed gourmet food and watching television. She was the best sister a person could have and will be dearly missed by her family and her dog “Big Man.”
Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Lee Knight and three brothers, Albert Sparks, Holly Taylor and Queenie Lucas. She leaves to cherish her memory six brothers, Donald Clay, Alfred Sparks, Cecil Sparks and wife Joetta, Stanley Sparks and wife, Kim Sparks and wife Peggy and Willie Lucas all of Erie; four sisters, Vivian Marshall, Luvenia Clay, Jacqueline Stovall and husband L.C. and Sylvia Sparks all of Erie; two cousins, Monica and Michelle Moore of Atlanta and many nieces , nephews, relatives and friends.
Friends may visit with the family Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m. at Law Funeral Home, 2926 Pine Ave., followed by a service conducted by Rev. Amos Goodwine, Sr. Interment will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Calvary Cemetery.
